The lighthouse and keepers quarters are open to the public and is an interesting stop when visiting the keys. The afternoon sun was striking the base of the Key West light and the adjacent building on the afternoon I was visiting. Beside the lighthouse is a huge Banyan tree with many trunks. The sunlit Florida greens are brilliant and the shadows in the trees are a rich value. That range of contrast is what you see in this original oil painting of a Florida landscape.
