About Painting
The scene was simple and unforgettable. A piece of driftwood displayed on a windowsill, sunlight filtering into an old house perched along a rocky shoreline. Outside, the water shimmered among stones, green grass, and trees, creating a quiet coastal view.
I was visiting the shore for the day with a small group and had my camera with me. At the time, I was shooting slide film, and over the years I’ve saved many of those images. Occasionally, I return to them. This particular window scene — the way the light touched the driftwood — brought back vivid memories of that day by the water.
That moment became Driftwood View, a painting about bringing an ocean treasure indoors and honoring the quiet beauty of coastal life.
