One of the things I like about the beach, and believe me there are many 🙂 is the unobstructed view of the sky. The sky is huge at the beach, there is nothing blocking the view. Looking up from my beach chair on a recent beach day I noticed a beautiful cloud. Immediately I did a quick pencil sketch and took a few photos to save for reference. Later, back at my studio I had a big 4 foot square stretched canvas ready for painting. I have done other paintings this size but not very often. I was a little unsure whether to paint such a big painting of this view of the sky and beach. After a little deliberating, I went ahead and began this large oil on canvas painting.
Ultimately, I’m happy I painted this beautiful scene. When I put my brushes down I felt like I was on cloud nine as I viewed the seascape scene in front of me.
