I was walking along the shoreline at Fort Lauderdale Beach when I spotted this moment. The boy’s excitement was contagious—he was so focused on the horizon, pointing with such energy that I knew it would make a wonderful painting. I focused on the way the sunlight hit the shallow water, creating those brilliant, fleeting reflections that are so characteristic of the Florida coast.
