Original watercolor of the ship “AMISTAD” arriving on a foggy morning on the Connecticut River. Several years ago I went down to the river when I heard that the “AMISTAD” was going to be arriving in Old Saybrook, CT. I went home and painted this watercolor trying to capture the look of the slave ship La Amistad. Using watercolor paint colors that produce fabulous texture on the paper I painted this 2 masted schooner. For more information on how this slave ship arrived from Cuba to the US follow this link.
