About Artist
P.J. Cook has been an artist since childhood when she was encouraged by two uncles that were also painters. By age 15 she began painting commissions of boats and animals as people began seeing her art. From there she attended Paier College of Art where she received a Bachelor of Fine Art. After many years working as a commercial artist designing and illustrating in advertising and corporate settings she went back to painting full time in watercolor and oil.
Her work focuses on the natural beauty found along the New England and Florida coasts. When looking for subjects to paint P.J. often looks for the simple things in life like dewdrops on a flower or striking still life subjects of fruits and flowers. Still life and florals are often painted alla prima or finished in one sitting.
With her studio located at the beautiful shoreline of southeast Florida, she likes to explore the local beaches and waterways.
